This national park has 320 species of birds. The main residential species of birds are large Cormorant, Painted Spurfowl, Sandpiper, Sarus Crane, Kingfisher, Bronzed winged Jacana, Painted Sandgrouse, Nightjar, Great horned owl and many more. In winter this park attracts a lot of migratory birds too.

Ranthambore Fort – One of the Popular Places in Ranthambore

Ranthambore fort lies within the Ranthambore National park. Fort has spread over an area of 4 sq km, where the length of the fort walls is 7 sq km. Ruins of houses, temples, palaces, and step-wells can be seen in and around the fort. The ruins of many popular buildings like Hammir Kachahari, Hammir Palace, Battis khamba Chhatri, Badal Mahal, Phansi Ghar and many others can be seen inside the fort. There is a famous temple of Lord Ganesha inside the fort which is known as the oldest temple of Rajasthan. The other two famous temples are Shiva and Rama temples inside the fort. There are many hills, valleys, lakes and natural scenic beauty which can be seen from the fort. Some of the nearby lakes to the fort which many visitors prefer to explore are Surwal Lake, Padam Lake and Malik Lake. Ranthambore fort remains open for visitors from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm.

By Air:
The nearest airport for Ranthambore national park is Sanganer Airport in Jaipur which is about 130 km from the park. Take a flight from any major city of India like Delhi or Mumbai to reach Jaipur and then take any bus or taxi from there to reach the park.

By Train:
Sawai Madhopur is the nearest railway station for Ranthambore wildlife sanctuary. Cabs, taxies and buses are available from the railway station to the National park.

By Road:
Ranthambore is well connected with all major cities. State buses are available from Delhi, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Ajmer, Jodhpur, etc. Private buses and taxies are also a good option to reach Ranthambore National park.

Best Time and Season to visit Ranthambore Tiger Reserve

Ranthambore wildlife sanctuary remains open from October to June. If you are a wildlife lover and specifically visiting Ranthambore to spot tigers, then October to April is the best time. At this time chances to spot tigers are high. Summer is also a good time for tiger spotting, as animals can be seen near the lakes in search of water. But at this time temperature remains very high, most of the times exceed 45°C. Park remains closed during monsoon for visitors.
